LeT militant killed in Doda

Doda, July 15 (UNI) A militant of Pakistan based Lashkar-e-Toiba (LeT) outfit was gunned down by the police in an encounter at Kidroo Nullah in Doda district of Jammu and Kashmir early today.

Acording to police, on a specific information about the movement of militants, an ambush was laid by a police party in Kidroo area. At about 0445 hrs militants were noticed who were challenged to lay down arms and surrender but instead militants opened fire on police.

Police said during the ensuring encounter one militant identified as Abu Sofian of LeT outfit was killed while the other escaped due to bleak visibility. One pistol along with one magazine and two rounds were recovered from the slain militant.

A search for the other militants was going on when reports last came in.
