Lalu to flag off new train from Kishanganj
Kishanganj, July 15 (UNI) A new weekly train Garib Nawaj Sharif, commuting between Kishanganj and Ajmer (Rajsthan) will be flagged off at Kishanganj on July 30 by Railway Minister Lalu Prasad.
Union minister of state and local RJD MP Taslimuddin said here today that the purpose of starting off a train from Kishanganj, a PIT line was very necessary. The railways have released the necessary funds for the same and the groundwork has been completed.
PIT line construction may take two months or more, but the ''go-ahead'' has been given for its commencement, he informed.
He told newspersons here that the Garib Nawaj Sharif weekly train does not only meet the aspirations of the people but will pave the way for many such long-distance trains from Kishanganj.
Once PIT line construction is completed, several new pair of trains will originate from here, Mr Taslimuddin declared.
The RJD leader will also formally launch construction of 44 km long Belwa-Pothia-Tampur road and 13 km long Gangi-Ohagorha road, to be constructed at the cost of Rs 2 crore and Rs 4.5 crore, on Saturday. These projects have been sanctioned under the Prime Minister's Gramin Sadak Yojna.
Many such road projects under the same yojna are on the anvil, which will strengthen the road network in this extremely backward and border district, he declared.
Taslimuddin, in reply to a query, called for a probe into the alleged bunglings by market yard agency in the construction of a road bridge at Majhia for which a sum of Rs 5 lakh was allocated.
