Lalit Kala Academy chief alleges corruption in UP govt

Mahoba, July 15 (UNI) Uttar Pradesh Lalit Kala Academy chairman Brijendra Pratap Singh -- enjoying the status of UP minister of state -- today levelled serious corruption charges against his own government.

Addressing a news conference here, Mr Singh said the state government only pretended to be the sole well-wisher of the farmers, labourers and minorities.

''The regime is only playing with the sentiments of the people and befooling the masses,'' he maintained.

Mr Singh alleged the state government was misleading the people in the name of Kanya Vidyadhan Yojna and unemployment allowance.

''The allowance is aimed at making the youth unproductive and antipathetic towards work.'' Further, the Lalit Kala Academy chief observed that instead of making the official machinery efficient, the Mulayam Singh Yadav government was giving allurements to people for political gains.

He alleged Mr Yadav had connived with industrialist Anil Ambani in the Reliance's proposed power plant at Dadri (Ghaziabad) and acquired vast tracts of land from farmers at government rates.

''This act exemplifies the attitude of the regime towards farmers and shows that Mr Yadav is not a 'Dhartiputra' (son of the land) but the adopted son of industrialists.'' ''Before terming former prime minister Vishwanath Pratap Singh as one with dual character, the Samajwadi Party president should introspect for himself first,'' Mr Singh added.
