Illicit liquor worth Rs 15 lakh seized

Kancheepuram, July 15 (UNI) Police today siezed illicit liquor worth Rs 15 lakh from a house at Thirukallimeedu near here.

Police said, they made the siezure after chasing a Maruti car, which tried to escape during a check conducted as per the order from Kancheepuram Superintendent A Amalraj in the district yesterday evening.

But the police team led by inspector Soundarajan which chased the car found it abandoned in front of a house near Thirukallimeedu. On further search, the police found five cans of illicit liquor in the car.

On suspicion, the police conducted a raid in the house and unearthed 35 cans of 35 litre capacity with wash. Apart from this, about 40,000 packets of illicit liquor and machines used to pack were also found.

No arrest was made and the police were on the look out for one Krishnan (45) in connection with this, they added.
