DIC(K) to adopt independent stand
Pathanamthitta, July 15 (UNI) Democratic Indira Congress (K) President K Muraleedharan today said his party will adopt an independent stand towards the Left Democratic Front (LDF) Government by supporting the right measures and opposing the wrong ones.
Inaugurating the district convention of DIC(K) here, Mr Muraleedharan said the enemies were spreading a slander campaign against his party saying that the DIC(K) was finished.
He claimed that his party had support at the grass-root level throughout the State.
He flayed former Chief Minister Oommen Chandy and KPCC President Ramesh Chennithala for making the DIC(K) a scapegoat in the wake of shameful performance of the Congress in the Assembly election.
Mr Muraleedharan said there was no question of the DIC(K) merging with the Congress that lacked even booth-level committees.
The law on self-financing professional college was totally against the economically poor students, he said adding that there were ample loopholes in the law to loot candidates in the name of 'capitation fee.' It was wrong to launch 'Liberation Struggle' for unseating the LDF Government. It was quite ironical to support the bill on self-financing professional colleges in the Assembly and then launch violent agitation against it in the streets, he added.
