Dhumal says HP most corrupt government ever
Shimla, July 15: Former Himachal Pradesh chief minister Prem Kumar Dhumal today termed the present Virbhadra Singh government in the state as the most corrupt government ever, saying it was neck deep in corruption as proved by the probe in the HPCPMT case.
''The three-member enquiry report in the Himachal Pradesh Combined Pre-Medical Test (HPCPMT) proves beyond doubt that irregularities in the entrance examination had indeed taken place.
The state government instead of taking action tried to cover it up,'' he told reporters here.
Mr Dhumal was talking to reporters after appearing in a local court here in the defamation case filed by him against Punjab Chief Minister Amrinder Singh, Minister of State for External Affairs Anand Sharma and senior Congress leader Moti Lal Vohra for making defamatory statements against him.
Demanding HP University Vice Chancellor and Controller of Examination's (CoE) resignation over the issue, he said they had failed to safeguard the interests of the deserving students by continuing to maintain that no irregularities had taken place in the entrance test.
He said the government's inaction on the irregularities in the examination even after being highlighted by the media and the opposition smacked of its attempt to shield and favour a selected few.
''It seems the Congress Government has not learnt any anything from the past and was still contiuning to indulge in corruption,'' Mr Dhumal added.
