Congress-DMK alliance intact: Shanmugham

Pondicherry, July 15 (UNI) Pondicherry Pradesh Congress Committee (PPCC) President P Shanmugham today said the congress DMK alliance is intact and the victory of the alliance in the recent Local Body elections was enough to substantiate it.

Talking to newspersons here, he said training would be conducted to the newly elected representatives to the Local Bodies. He also advised them to visit their respective wards and do the required works over there, keeping in mind that the people had elected them.

Mr Shanmugham said the victory of the DPA in the civic polls was informed to the AICC and Mrs Sonia Gandhi as well as the DMK president M Karunanidhi, who congratulated the Congress and DMK leaders here.

About 500 volunteers from different parties had joined the Congress yesterday, he added.
