Conference on Diabetes begins
Bangalore, July 15 (UNI) Karnataka High Court Chief Justice Cyriac Joseph today urged medical organisations to conduct more medical camps in rural areas for early detection of diabetes.
Justice Joseph in his address at a conference on Diabetes here said that such camps would help in educating the rural population taking up early treatment of the diseases.
It was the duty of the medical personnel and pharmacies to provide the medical drugs at an affordable prices to the commonman and the poor, he said.
Health care at an affordable cost was the fundamental right of the citizen and the government has the duty to provide it, he said.
''We have to be concerned about the commonman and he has to be brought to the centre stage again,'' he said.
He said the need of the time is to renew the spirit of sacrifice and service of pre-independance towards poor in the country.
The organisers of the conferance said that at least five lakh people with diabetes live in the city. Diabetes will dominate all health issues in India in the coming days, they said.
