Electric line completed in 7 yrs
Agartala, Jul 15: The Tripura State Electricity Corporation has done a commendable job in the progress of expansion and development of power service in the state within seven years.
According to official sources here today, altogether 5000 km of power line was extended for distribution of electricity to the consumers from April 1998 to March 2005.
In the meantime the corporation increased its production by 42 mw and the extended supply line by 150.1 km for 132 kv and 32.2 km for 66 kv. Moreover, a 33 kv line, an 11 kv line and LT line have also been extended by 4974.01 km during that period.
Altogether 537 villages were provided with electricity during that period.Electricity connection was provided to 57,293 poor families under Kutir Jyoti project. Besides, Rs 1,27,30,589 was collected as fine from illegal consumers.
A 21 mw gas-based thermal power project was established at Rokhia in West district which became operative recently.
Necessary approval for setting up of a similar 21 mw unit at Baramura was received from the Planning Commission, sources added.
