New Delhi, July 14 (UNI) The Uttaranchal government should focus on infrastructure and access needs, product development, biodiversity conservation and planning for sustainable tourism, to develop its tourism sector, an industry chamber today said.
Hinting a long-term perspective development plan with an effective monitoring mechanism to the state government and encouraging to develop tourism economic zones through enactment of a legislation, PHDCCI pointed out to the incredible opportunities for the state to capitalise upon spas, sulphur springs, development of biking trails on Australian pattern and eco-tourism.

The Kumaon and Garhwal regions have a high tourism potential which can be tapped by improving roads and upgrading amenities and facilities for tourists on highways and at important tourists sites.
Regarding the product packaging, chamber called for developing destination plans for potential tourist places, which are currently not well developed.
PHDCCI also favourved that Dehra Dun should be developed as a day-long destination by packaging and marketing places like Tapkeshwar, Sahstradhara, FRI and the Dronacharya Academy.
