Two Lashker fidayeen among three killed in Kashmir

Srinagar, July 14 (UNI) Two fidayeen of Pakistan based Lashker-e- Toiba (LeT) and a former ultra were killed in the Kashmir valley overnight.

A defence ministry spokesman said troops conducted search operation at Mir Mohalla Aragam, Bandipora, about 55 km from here in north Kashmir last night.

However, when the troops were about to storm a particular house, they came under heavy fire from militants hiding inside. The fire was returned and the operation continued throughout the night.

Later, search of the area was carried out in the morning during which bodies of two killed militants were found .

He said based on documents recovered from the killed militants, they have been identified as Mohd Imran alias Abu Muslim Zarar and Abdullah alias Lahori.

Both the killed militants belong to Lashker-e-Toiba outfit and are residents of Pakistan. Two AK 47 Rifles with eight magazines, 240 rounds and five shells of UBGL have been recovered from the slain militants.

A spokesman of the LeT however claimed that they were members of the suicide squad who were killed during a fidayeen attack on a security force camp. He further claimed that several security personnel were killed in the attack.

Official sources said one Haji Bashir Ahmad, a released militant, was killed by unidentified gunmen at Shopian in south Kashmir this morning.
