Two engineers of Delhi Jal Board transferred
New Delhi, July 14 (UNI) The Delhi Jal Board has transferred two of its engineers for sending 13 residents of South Delhi's Nehru Nagar to Tihar Jail who were protesting against not getting water in their homes.
In a decision late last night, the Delhi Jal Board transferred its Zonal engineer S R Bhatti and junior engineer Mukesh Raghav from their posting in the Jal Vihar area, DJB sources said today.
In the incident, which happened on July 6, 14 residents of Nehru Nagar who went to the DJB's Jal Vihar office to complain that they hadn't received a drop of water since January, they were allegedly handed over by the engineers to the police and forced to spent the night at the local police station.
Next morning, with the exception of the pregnant woman, Taruna, 13 of the residents were sent to Tihar Jail for another four days.
