Tawang set to host sixth Buddha Mahotsava
Itanagar, Jul 14: Tawang district in Arunachal Pradesh is all set to host the sixth Buddha Mahotsava, a mega tourism extravaganza, slated for November 5 to 7.
Addressing a meeting at Tawang, Power and Relief and Rehabilitation Minister Dorjee Khandu called upon the people to actively gear up for the preparation for celebrating forth coming Buddha Mahotsava, informed official sources here today.
The minister said that every aspect of the festival must bear a traditional colour as well as religious touch, while showcasing the culture and traditions. He also stressed on involvement of Monks and Anis in large number. While advocating for judicious utilization of fund, the minister asked to avoid extra expenditure.
Speaking on the occasion, Legislator Rev. T.G.Rinpoche said that the festival should be celebrated with religious colour and tastes by involving the monks in large number and stressed on the need for proper arrangement for practicing the religious rituals along with offering of prayers by monks for world peace and dwelt on private public participation in the celebration of festival.
Local legislator Tsewang Dondhup, who is the chief coordinator of the festival apprised the minister on arrangements being made keeping in view the 2550 years of Mahapari nirvana of Lord Buddha being celebrated by the entire world, sources added.
