Tata Sponge appoints Sudhir Deoras as Additional Joint Director

Mumbai, July 14 (UNI) The board of directors of Tata Sponge Iron has appointed Mr Sudhir Deoras as the Additional as well as Joint Managing Director of the company.

Announcing this, the company said Mr Deoras will serve a tenure of three years starting July 11. He has earlier been the MD of the trading house of Tata Group called Tata International, earlier Tata Exports.

Tata International raked in more than Rs 2,300 crore in 2001-02 under the directorship of Deoras. Incorporated in 1982, Tata Sponge Iron was originally a JV of Tata Steel and Industrial Promotion&Investment Corporation of Orissa (IPICOL).

Later, in 1991, Tata Steel acquired IPICOLs stake of 26% equity, thus making Tata Sponge one of its subsidiaries.
