Suspension of two students in ragging case set aside by HC
Kochi, July 14 (UNI) The Kerala High Court today set aside the suspension of two girls from the School of Medical Education, MG University Kottayam, on charges of ragging.
Allowing the writ petitions filed by the students, Alpha Jose and Bincia Mohamed, Mr Justice C N Ramachandran Nair observed that the suspension was ellegal.
The Court deprecated the attitude of the university in ''bowing'' before the students unions, when they exerted pressure with an agitation threat and passing orders to suspension to appease them.
The Court said under the provision of the Ragging Prohibition Act, the authorities could resort to suspension only if there was a written complaint by the victim.
The Court directed the University to allow the students join the college immediately and to publish their results forthwith if they had been withheld.
