Shahbuddin withdraws petition against Bihar govt
New Delhi, July 14 (UNI) Controversial RJD MP Mohammed Shahbuddin today withdrew his petition in the Supreme Court challenging the notification of the state government directing that his trial in criminal cases shall be held within the jail premises.
A bench comprising Mr Justice G P Mathur and Mr Justice Dalveer Bhandari dismissed the petition as withdrawn.
Shahbuddin in his petition, had also challenged the treatement meted out to a sitting MP by jail authorities and sought action against the officials responsible.
The apex court however, granted him liberty to approach the Patna High Court for redressal of his grievances.
Shahbuddin had also prayed to the court to transfer the trial of all pending cases against him outside Bihar in view of the alleged vindictive attitude of the Nitish Kumar government.
Over a dozen criminal cases are pending against the RJD MP from Siwan.
