School teacher bags award

Kozhikode, July 14 (UNI) Upcoming poet and school teacher Usha Koombidi has been selected for the maiden Priyadarshini Award for her outstanding contribution to poetry.

Ms Usha, a teacher of A J B School, Palakkad, won the award for her poetry collection 'Chirimanzhxa Mukhangal, a release said today.

The award, instituted by Priyadarshini cultural news magazine, carried a cash price of Rs 10,001, plaque and citation.

Kerala Opposition leader Oommen Chandy would present the award to Ms Usha at a function to be held here in August, the release added.
