Rs three-crore, 330 km per hour car launched in India
New Delhi, July 14 (UNI) Italian automobile firm, Lamborghini today launched in India Murcielago - the ultimate sports-cum-luxury car- flaunting a mind-blowing price of Rs three crore for a six-gear speedster that can run at 330 km per hour.
Lamborghini, known worldwide for producing stylish and exclusive cars, is not like any other car-maker. For the entire global market, it sold 1600 masterpieces of automobiles last year.
''With its economy growing at an impressive rate of eight per cent, India is producing an increasing number of billionares and millionares who deserve such luxuries as Rs three-crore priced Murcielago and Gallardo with a price tag of Rs 1.8 crore,'' Lamborghini President and CEO Stephan Winkelmann said at a press review of the rich man's car.
The company has already shipped six cars in the country well before its formal launch sending a signal about the rich Indians. It is hopeful of selling at least 10 more cars in India within the next five months.
The expensive Murcielago comes in tubular frame chassis, made from high-strength steel alloy with carbon fibre structural parts.
Its suspension is independent front and rear double wishbones with anti-roll bars.
The 12 cylinders engine produces maximum power of 426 KW at 7500 rmp with a maximum torque at 5400 rpm.
The Rs 1.80 crore Gallardo can run at a maximum speed of 309 km per hour. Its 10 cylinder engine produces a maximum power of 368 KW at 7800 rpm. It comes with a chassis made from structural aluminium spaceframe.
The two models will be available through Lamborghini's only Indian dealer Exclusive Motors Private Ltd in New Delhi. The same dealer will start another outlet to cater to the rich and famous in Mumbai by year-end.
Exclusive Motors Managing Director Satya Bagla said Lamborghini is not looking at numbers as of now, but hopes to sell 50-60 cars per year by 2010.
