Police station on God's mercy

Patna, July 14 (UNI) The weather gods here have brought the cops and priests into a working partnership.

The incessant downpour over the last few days and the consequent flooding saw the cops of the Shastrinagar police station here scurrying to seek refuge in the solidly structured Shiv Temple from where the police station is now functional.

So even as devotees line up at the temple for special prayers during the auspicious month of Shrawan, the police officials continue with their routine work alongside.

Following the continuous downpour it is the temples and community halls that have come as a relief for the people facing problems due to water logging. However, it is ironical that a police station which is supposed to provide help to the people in distress, is in dire need of assistance itself. Seems the almighty is the only ray of hope for it.

The rains have completely inundated the Shashtrinagar police station.

Police personnel have managed to save the documents from water but other belongings, including the seized items, are still languishing in the police station, officials said.

The police personnel posted in the Shashtrinagar police station have a sorry story to tell, saying the roof of the building is in a pathetic condition and always leaked during rains.

The situation is not too different in other parts of the state capital as police personnel can be seen patrolling in their slippers as the entire city is waterlogged.
