Police file 650-page chargesheet against Pravin Mahajan

Mumbai, July 14 (UNI) Police today filed a chargesheet against Pravin Mahajan, accused of killing his elder brother and senior BJP leader Pramod Mahajan at a local court in Bhoiwada.

The chargesheet, running into about 650 pages, was filed before Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate B L Waghmare by the officers of the Worli police station.

Pravin has been chargesheeted under sections 302 (murder) and 449 (house trespass with an intention to commit a crime) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).

Assistant Public Prosecutor E B Dhamal said that 58 people, including some politicians, have figured as key-witnesses to the incident in the case.

He, however, did not disclose the names of the politicians and said the chargesheet will be personally handed over to Pravin on Monday, when he would be produced before the court for an extension of his judicial remand.

Pravin had allegedly shot his brother and the then BJP general secretary Pramod Mahajan at the latter's residence in Worli, South Mumbai on April 22.

Later, a critically wounded Pramod Mahajan, who sustained three bullet wounds, was admitted to the Hinduja hospital where he succumbed to his injuries on May three.
