Parents made accountable in school education

Bhopal, Jul 14: Parents would be made accountable on the quality of education in the government primary and middle schools in Madhya Pradesh with their active participation in the functioning of the schools.

The tenure of parent-teachers association has been fixed at two years, while parents or guardian of only highest mark scoring students, including of the reserved category, would be nominated as executive committee members, School Education Minister Narottam Mishra said.

President and Vice President of the association would be elected from among the executive members only, he said.

Madhya Pradesh Jan Shiksha Rules 2003 has been amended to provide for removal of President or Vice President on the ground of negligence in duty, misuse of school fund or absence from meetings continuously for three months.

The amendment was made to make the association's functioning more effective and result-oriented, Mr Mishra said. There are a total of 1,00,837 government primary and middle schools in the state.
