Numeric, Socomec to market high-end UPS systems in India

Chennai, July 14 (UNI) UPS majors Numeric Power Systems and Socomec of France today announced setting up a joint venture (JV) for offering the 'Socomec' brand of high-end UPS systems in India.

The 50:50 JV "Socomec-Numeric UPS Private Limited" will distribute, sell and service the state-of-the-art three-Phase range of Socomec UPS products in India, ranging from 10 KVA UPS to Mega Volt UPS.

The JV would focus on addressing the fast-growing Indian market for latest technology UPS systems that offer high performance, unmatched reliability, availability and maximum efficiency, while matching the demands of the present generation IT loads in mission critical applications without any de-ration of the UPS capacity, Numeric MD R Chellappan and Socomec Asia MD Jean-Marc Gautier told a press conference here.

In a short span of a couple of weeks, the JV had won projects to the tune of 15 MW, including those from Sify, Cisco, Oracle, CTS, BMW and Logica CMG, they said.

The company had no immediate plans of setting up a manufacturing facility in India with the Socomec products being imported from its plants in Italy and France.

In Italy, UPS in the range of 10 KVA to 80 KVA were being manufactured while its units in France made UPS with capacity ranging from 80 KVA to 800 KVA.

The JV was planning to achieve a turnover of eight million Euros in the fist year of operation with target areas being IT, ITeS, BPOs, process automation, hi-end telecom, health care, finance, banking and insurance firms, e-governance projects, corporates, SOHO, SMEs and educational institutions.
