NSCN-IM denies guarding Rio

Kohima, Jul 14: The NSCN-IM today denied that they were providing security to Nagaland Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio as accused by their rival faction.

In a statement here today, spokesman claimed in the Tuesday last firing near the official residence of Chief Minister, no NSCN-IM cadre fired on their rival cadres as accused by NSCN(K).

He alleged that rival cadres resorted to firing with an intention to dislodge the efforts for finding a solution to the protracted Naga problem.

The NSCN-IM statement asserted that recourse to ''illogical and absurd'' accusations after trying to vitiate the atmosphere brings to fore the ugly side of their manifestations.
