Nine asst engineers dismissed for abetting unauthorised contructions

New Delhi, July 14 (UNI) In a fresh crackdown on the corruption in the administration of the Municipal Corporation of Delhi, the MCD today dismissed nine assistant engineers for abetting ongoing unauthorised constructions in the capital.

''Nine assistant engineers have been dismissed by the MCD commissioner for abetting ongoing unauthorised contructions in Delhi,''the director of the press and information office in the corporation Deep Mathur said.

The names of the engineers or their respective zones were, however, not disclosed.

MCD members have been expressing concern over the unauthorised structures still coming up in the capital, which they attribute to the deep-rooted corruption in MCD ranks wherein engineers of the corporation are said to abet building of unauthorised structure in return for bribes.

The matter came up in a meeting of the standing committee earlier this week with chairman Jai Kishen Sharma expressing serious concern and asserting that corruption in the administration would not be tolerated.
