Medina Garrigues takes on Pennetta in Fed Cup semi opener

ZARAGOZA, Spain, July 14 (Reuters) Anabel Medina Garrigues will be first up for Spain in their Fed Cup semi-final against Italy when she takes on Flavia Pennetta in the opening singles match in Zaragoza tomorrow.

Today's draw also paired Spain's Lourdes Dominguez-Lino with Francesca Schiavone, who beat world number one Amelie Mauresmo in April as Italy overcame France 4-1 in the opening round.

The return singles will take place on Sunday, along with the doubles rubber which is scheduled to pitch the Spanish pair of Virginia Ruano Pascual and Maria Sanchez Lorenzo against Romina Oprandi and Mara Santangelo.

Five-times Fed Cup winners Spain beat Austria 5-0 in their opening round to reach the semi-final stage for the third year running.
