Manmohan Singh meets blast victims in hospitals
Mumbai, July 14: Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh today met the victims of the July 11 serial bomb blasts in seven suburban trains.
Immediately after arriving here, Dr Singh first went to the Sion hospital and then to King Edward Memorial (KEM) hospital and met the injured recuperating from the physical and mental trauma they went through during the blasts.
He enquired about their condition and the treatment being meted out to them, sources said adding that the hospital authorities also informed the PM about the various measures being taken by them for the care of the blast-hit patients.
Dr Singh was accompanied by Maharashtra Governor S M Krishna, Chief Minister Vilasrao Deshmukh, Union Home Minister Shivraj Patil, Union Agriculture Minister Sharad Pawar and other senior State Government officials.
He later discussed the issues of security and measures to provide succour to the families of victims with the State officials.
Nearly 190 people were killed and more than 700 injured in the seven bomb blasts which ripped apart the first class compartments of the suburban trains on the Western line in the metropolis on July 11.
