Kerala HC sets aside suspension of 2 students in ragging case
Kochi, Jul 14 (UNI) The Kerala High Court today set aside the suspension of two girls from the School of Medical Education, MG University Kottayam, following a ragging harassment case.
While allowing the writ petitions filed by Alpha Jose and Bincia Mohamed, Justice C N Ramachandran Nair observed that this suspension was unauthorised.
The Court deprecated the attitude of the university in ''bowing'' before the students unions, when they exerted pressure with threat of agitation, and passing orders to appease them.
The court said that under the provision of the Ragging Prohibition Act, the authorities could resort to the diciplinary action of suspension only if there is a written complaint by the victim.
The court directed the university to let the students join the college immediately and to publish their results forthwith if these had been withheld.
