India Post launches waterproof envelopes for Rakhsha Bandhan

New Delhi, July 13 (UNI) With 'Raksha Bhandhan' festivities on cards, India Post today launched a unique tear and water resistance envelopes, as a gift on the occasion.

The department has tied up with DuPont, a global science company, for these envelopes, which are made up of special fabric that is evironment-friendly and light-weighted.

These 'Rakhi' envelopes, priced at Rs 5 each, will be available at post offices across the country.

''Since 'Rakhi' is a symbol of protective bond between a brother and a sister, this is a perfect match. We are delighted that India Post has selected DuPont Tyvek envelopes to secure and protect the 'Rakhis','' DuPont Business Manager (Nonwovens) India H P Nanda said.

The Department of Posts Secretary Jyotsna Diesh, who along with DuPont India President Balvinder Singh Kalsi jointly unveild the envelopes here, said, ''Rakhi is an expression of tender sentiments, and India Post, being the most customer friendly organisation, would like to ensure the best protection and security for reaching the Rakhi wishes to the brothers not only in India, but anywhere in the world.'' In his address, Mr Kalsi announced that DuPont India would donate five per cent of its proceeds from every Rakhi envelope sold by India Post to the SOS Children's Villages of India.

DuPont, a 204-year-old company, also announced the sponsership of four SOS children for a year.
