India offers Belarus help in IT, pharma sectors

New Delhi, July 14 (UNI) India today offered help to Belarus in developing Information Technology and Pharmaceuticals industry, through joint ventures between ''suitable partners'' identified by the two sides.

Minister of State for Industry Ashwani Kumar made offers in this regard at the third session of three-day Indo-Belarusian Intergovernmental Commission for Economic, Trade, Industrial, Scientific, Technological and Cultural Cooperation in Minsk, which he attended along with his Belarusian counterpart Mr Anatoly Rusetsky in Minsk.

He also offered a line of credit to Belarus to enable BHEL to upgrade the thermal power station.

Dr Kumar also evinced interest in assembling Belarusian heavy duty Dumpers in India.

Wide range of issues including bilateral trade and investments, cooperation in industrial, scientific fields and cultural exchanges between the two countries were taken up during the session.

After the conclusion of the session, a Protocol was signed by the two Ministers accompanying a wide range of issues agreed by the two sides for cooperation between them.
