Heavy rains in Kangra district

Shimla, July 14 (UNI) Heavy rains lashed several areas of Kangra district of Himachal Pradesh, while other areas of the state received light to moderate rains during the past 24 hours, as the monsoon remained active in the state, the met office said today.

Guler and Nagrota Surian in Kangra district recorded 86 and 80.5 mm of rains respectively during the past 24 hrs, but no loss of life and property was reported from anywhere in the state.

The met office said Bangana in Una district received 46 mm of rains followed by 44.5 mm and 27.2 mm rain respectively at Kahu and Berthin in Bilaspur district and 29 mm at Nadaun in Hamirpur district.

Light showers also lashed the tribal districts of Kinnuar, Lahaul-Spiti, Kullu and Chamba with Patsio and Kalpa receiving 3.7 and two mm of rains respectively and registering a drop of two to three degrees in these districts, it said.

Pandoh in Mandi district recorded 24.5 mm of rain, while Shimla received 21.7 mm of rains till 0830 hrs and the met office said the state capital had recorded about 340.7 mm of rain from June one to till date.

Dharamshala received 14.4 mm rains and Sujanpur Tira recorded 10 mm of rains during the past 24 hrs.

Shimla and its adjoining areas were lashed by light showers throughout the day.

The state capital recorded a night temperature of 16 degrees, while Sundernagar and Bhuntar recorded minimum temperatures of 20.3 and 19.8 degrees respectively.

The minimum temperature recorded at Patsio was 1.5, while Kalpa recorded a low of 10.1 degree, the met office added.
