Handloom exhibition in Rajahmundry
Rajahmundry, Jul 14 (UNI) East Godavari District Collector M Subramanyam inagurated the ten-day handloom sales exhibition 'Chenetha Sourabhalu' at the Sri Uma Ramalingeswara Swamy Vari Kalyana Mandapam today.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr Subramanyam said the state government was making earnest efforts to help the handloom weavers. The District Central Cooperative banks had extended loans amounting to Rs 12.69 crore to the weavers with low interest rate.
Several other welfare schemes, including insurance, medical assistance were implemented for the weavers in the district, he said adding the 'Netha Bazaar,' under construction, would be completed within two to three months to enable the weavers to sell their wares in the permanent bazaar.
A sale of about Rs 25 to 30 lakh was expected during the exhibition period, he added.
