Gold, 'ashtadhatu' idols estimated at Rs 2 crore seized

Ballia, July 14 (UNI) Police here today recovered two 'ashtadhatu' and gold idols of Lord Ram and Laxman collectively estimated at Rs two crore in the international market.

The 'ashtadhatu' idol of Lord Ram idol and gold of idol Laxman weigh 11.5 kgs and 10.5 kgs respectively.

Police said the recovery was made this morning in Haldi town of the district.

The cops on patrol spotted two men carrying a gunny bag and moving suspiciously. When intercepted, the duo fled leaving the bag behind. The idols were recovered from the bag.

Meanwhile, police superintendent Akramul Haq announced a reward of Rs 2,500 to the team.

Investigations were on to ascertain the source of the idols.
