CM reviews traffic scene in Guwahati

Guwahati, Jul 14 (UNI) Asom Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi today reviewed the traffic situation in Guwahati city.

In a meeting held at the chief minister's office chambers here in presence of Guwahati Development Department Minister Himanta Biswa Sharma, a number of important decisions to ease traffic congestion in the city were taken.

It was decided to set up a traffic cell near the T C Girls School on Gopinath Bordoloi Road. To ease congestion in the Paltan Bazar area, the junction near Nalini Bala Devi Park would be broadened with induction of land from the park and the park would also be given a facelift, the meeting resolved.

The meeting also discussed on the need to connect the main city with the northern banks of the Brahmaputra, on the banks of which Guwahati is situated, with a new bridge.

The meeting was attended among others by Deputy Commissioner Kamrup (Metro) Avinash Joshi and international bridge expert Mahesh Tandon.
