A BSF jawan of 106 batallion was killed in firing by the BDR on June 12.
Incidentally, BSF experienced unprovoked BDR firing in Bangladesh on July 6 while cross firing lasted for about 20 hours in Jalalpur, Saidpur villages near Taki.
Even yesterday at Angrail under Gaighat Police station near Bongaon, the BSF shot down at least two smugglers to prevent cattle smuggling.
The DG BSF admitted that despite strict vigil along the Indo-Bangladesh border here in south Bengal, frequent smuggling caused concern for all.
The BSF is continuing strict vigil in the bordering areas to check the menace, Mr Mitra claimed.
