Bhatkal records very heavy rain of 50 cm
Bangalore, July 14 (UNI) Following is summary of observations recorded by the weather office at 0830 hours today.
The heavy rain may occur at a few places with isolated very heavy falls over Coastal Karnataka during next 24 hours. Heavy rain may also occur at isolated places over ghat areas of South Interior Karnataka during the same period.
Monsoon was active over Coastal Karnataka, however weak over North Interior Karnataka. Rainfall occurred at a few places over South Interior Karnataka and at isolated places North Interior Karnataka.
Bhatkal recorded exceptionally very heavy rainfall of 50 cms.
Very Heavy rainfall amounts (cm): Nilkund 22; Panambur, Mangalore AP 21 each; Udupi 20; Mulki, Kota, Shirali 19 each; Kollur 18; Kundapur, Mangalore 16 each; Bantwal 14; Mani 13.
Heavy rainfall amounts (cm): Siddapura, Agumbe 12 each; Mudibidre, Honavar 10 each; Vittal, Karkala 9 each; Gerusoppa, Siddapura 7 each.
Other chief rainfall amounts (cm): Dharmasthala, Sulya, Talaguppa 6 each; Belthangadi, Subramanya, Sringeri 5 each; Sagar, Kalasa, Lakkavalli, Gowribidanur 4 each.
Forecast valid until Sunday morning: Rain/thundershowers likely to occur at most places over Coastal Karnataka; at many places over South Interior Karnataka and at a few places over North Interior Karnataka.
Farmers Weather Bulletin: Moderate to heavy rain likely to occur at most places over all districts of Coastal Karnataka. Light to moderate rain likely to occur at many places over ghat areas of South Interior Karnataka; at a few places over Belgaum, Haveri, Dharwad districts of North Interior Karnataka and at isolated places over remaining districts of North Interior Karnataka and South Interior Karnataka.
Fishries warning: Strong onshore winds from westerly direction speed occasionally reaching 45 to 55 kmph likely along off Karnataka coast during the nest 24 hours.
Forecast for Bangalore: Generally cloudy. One or two spells of light rain.
