AP to introduce new 'kerosene policy'

Hyderabad, July 14 (UNI) Andhra Pradesh Information Minister Mohd Ali Shabbir today said the government would introduce a new 'kerosene policy' to ensure that all white card holders would regularly get kerosene under the Public Disribution System (PDS).

Addressing the press here, Mr Shabbir said the State Civil Supplies Department was preparing modalities to supply kerosene to poor families without any involvement of black marketers.

The new policy would come into affect at the earliest.

Stating the government had urged the Centre to allot 20,000 Kls of kerosene additionally to meet the requirements of the state he said the government was conducting a survey on the requirement of the fuel by scrutinizing the white cards in the state.

At present, the Centre had alloted 55,356 KL kerosene to the state.

The Minister said the government would not reduce kerosene quota to the beneficiaries despite the number of white card holders having increased compared to last year.
