Advocates protest against denial of entry into Vidhana Soudha

Bangalore, July 14 (UNI) Advocates of the Karnataka High Court today staged a protest against denial of entry to a few of their colleagues into the Vidhana Soudha, the state secretariat, here.

The incident occurred this morning when the police denied entry to Advocates Association President K N Subba Reddy and a few others into the Vidhana Soudha. The advocates engaged in a wordy duel with the police. Irked by the police action the advocates resorted to an agitation.

Later, Deputy Commissioner of Police G B Chabbi clarified that the advocates were denied entry as they did not possess official passes issued to them to enter the Vidhana Soudha following the tight security measures taken up in view of the recent serial bomb blasts in Mumbai which claimed over 190 lives.

Prohibitory orders under section 144 of the CrPC had been promulgated in and around the Secretariat and extra police force deployed at all its entry points, he added.
