About 200 hundred Amarnath pilgrims narrowly escapes death
Srinagar, July 14: About two hundred Amarnath pilgrim had a miraculous escape when their tents were buried under land and mudslides at base camp Baltal, official sources said today.
They said heavy rains in the area for about 24 hours triggered landslides and mudslides at Baltal, the base camp of Amarnath cave shrine.
However, before the tents were buried under the mudslides, pilgrims ran for safety Later, the pilgrims were shifted to safer places.
Sources said about hundreds of pilgrims are stranded at Batlal camp and no devotee was allowed from this side for the holy cave shrine. However, those stranded at cave were brought back to Baltal today.
They said about 4000 pilgrims are stranded at Nunwan, Pahalgam base camp.
Sources said snowfall was experiended at Sheshnag, holy cave and its periphery resulting in extreme cold.
