6 arrested for stripping woman sarpanch

Chhatarpur, MP, July 14 (UNI) Six people were arrested on the charges of stripping and assaulting a Dalit woman sarpanch in Chhatarpur district of Madhya Pradesh, police said today.

Police said Ramdas Shukla, who was carrying a reward of Rs 1000, was arrested from Jabalpur yesterday, while five others had already been detained in connection with the June 20 incident at Mahoikala village under Sarwai police station area.

Another accused Santosh Shukla, who carried a reward of Rs 5,000, was absconding.

The accused assaulted and humiliated the Dalit woman sarpanch as she did not succumb to their pressure to grant them a share of the development fund allotted to the gram panchayat.
