33-member to represent India in Asian Junior Athletics Championships

New Delhi, July 14 (UNI) A 33-member team will represent India in the three-day 12th Asian Junior Athletics Championships starting tomorrow in Taipa, Macau.

The biannual junior meet will see 500 athletes from about 40 countries vying for top hounours with Virender Kumar Pankaj (400m), Vinod Raj N Paul (Triple Jump) leading the Indian challenge in the men's events.

Jhuma Khatun will be India's best bet in the 800m and 1,500m in the women's events.

The Indians are likely to face stiff challenge from their Chinese and Japanese counterparts, who have traditionally dominated the event.
