Water level up in Srisailam Reservoir

Hyderabad, Jul 13 (UNI) The water level in the Srisailam Reservoir rose to 857.60 ft as against its full capacity of 885 ft as Andhra River Krishna continued to receive inflows from Karnataka.

With this, the storage in the reservoir rose to 141.25 tmc ft, raising hopes among farmers for a good khariff crop in the Krishna Delta region as also in the Nagarjunasagar Command Areas.

The water level in Jurala, the entry point of the river in Andhra Pradesh, went up to 1,037.62 ft with an inflow of 66,869 cusecs, irrigation officials said.

The level in Nagarjunasagar rose to 551 ft as 41,642 cusecs was let out after power generation at Srisailam. As much as 13,259 cusecs was released from the Nagarjunasagar for farm operations in the Krishna Delta region.

As only 60,965 cusecs and 50674 cusecs were realised at Almatti and Narayanpur, the authorities in Karnataka discharged 46,549 cusecs and 43,672 cusecs respectively.
