US lawmakers introduce resolution in House condemning Mumbai blasts

Washington, July 13 (UNI) Two US Congressmen Joseph Crowley and Joe Wilson have introduced a resolution condemning the terror attacks in Mumbai and expressing sympathy for the people of India in the aftermath of the tragedy.

House Resolution 911, which was referred to the House International Relations Committee, says, ''India has remained a strong supporter of the global war on terror and offered immediate assistance to the United States after the 9/11 terrorists attacks.

Our shared values have made both our nations targets to those who wish to see an end to democracy and modern society.'' It said ever since its establishment, India has been threatened by terrorists determined to undermine its principles and as the United States and India are entering a historic chapter in their bilateral relationship by establishing a global partnership Expressing its deepest condolences to the people of India, the victims and their families, the resolution condemned these heinous and unjustified attacks on the people of Mumbai and expressed resolve of the United States to strengthen and support the newly-expanded relationship with India, a friend and democratic ally of the United States.

It also called upon the international community to renew and strengthen efforts to-- (A) Combat the social injustice, oppression, poverty, and extremism that breeds terrorism; (B) Defeat terrorists in all countries by defeating the ideology and the networks of terrorists that train and carry out attacks; and (C) Increase international cooperation to advance all human rights.
