Three tea plantation workers commit suicide in Jalpaiguri

Siliguri, Jul 13 (UNI) Mystery shrouded in north Bengal tea belt after three plantation workers of different tea gardens allegedly committed suicide in the past 72 hours, official sources said.

Rajesh Uraon (35) of Batabari tea estate under Meteli block, Shinu Kanwar (47) of Damdin tea garden and Manoj Munda (46) of Luksan tea estate of Malbazar block committed suicide.

Police said Rajesh, who was suffering from various diseases and after being frustrated to meet expenses of the treatment, ended his life by consuming poison.

However, the local people said that he could not carry his job due to illness.

Chinu of Damdin tea garden also ended his life after failing to fight poverty, local people said.

Manoj also ended his life by consuming poison after being faced abject poverty.
