Stringent security checks delay several flights in Delhi

New Delhi, July 13 (UNI) Several outbound flights from the national capital were delayed this morning following stringent security checks as a high alert has been sounded in the wake of serial bomb blasts in Mumbai.

Due to strict security measures, several flights of private airlines on Terminal 1-B were delayed, according to sources.

''These were being done on the instructions of the Central Industrial Security Force which is entrusted with the security of the airport,'' they added.

While all 25 flights of Jet Airways were delayed by 30-45 minutes, seven out of 23 flights of Air Sahara ran behind schedule by about 30-60 minutes. Flights of no-frills airlines like Air Deccan and Spicejet were also running late.

Even as Quick Reaction Teams have been deployed to beef up security at the airport, passengers' identity is being thoroughly checked before being allowed to board flights. Along with this, checks are also being carried out at ladder point and frisking of passengers being done on a rigorous note.
