''Some diseases are God's will''

Mumbai, July 13 (UNI) A blind ayurvedic practitioner, Sameer Mansuri, who has treated about 10-12 people available blindness, says that certain diseases are inborn and ordained by God as in his case and one cannot interfere with or alter God's will.

Dr Mansuri, who is blind from birth, has given the gift of eyesight to patients who have developed blindness for various reasons after birth.

A graduate in English Literature from Ahmedabad, he left his house because of family problems. ''I was a castaway, disgruntled with the vagaries and burden of a distressed life, I left my hometown at the age of 21 seeking an independent life,'' he says.

During his stay away from home, he did menial jobs including massaging, an art he mastered through practice. His search for independence led him to Hyderabad where he encountered a veteran and revered ayurvedic exponent Guru Shamshuddin who taught him the finer aspects of pulse reading and diagnosing complex diseases and curing them with the help of herbal medicines.

''In a period of ten months, my guru taught me everything that was to be taught. I got my certificate from the Ayurvedic Medical Council in Hyderabad.'' He did his PHD from the Open University of Colombo at Sri Lanka and was elected Vice-president of International Association of Educators for World Peace.

Dr Sameer Mansuri treats diseases like arthritis, paralysis, asthma, diabetes, blood pressure, problems related to heart, liver and kidney, piles, and others. His clientele include showman Subhash Ghai, heartthrob Hrithik Roshan, Salman Khan, Vivek Oberoi and a host of other film and TV stars and technicians and the elite from the Corporate sector, he says.

''I practice Ayurveda which is a science of body, soul and mind.

I am not a miracle man or faith healer.'' UNI LS MAZ YA DB0921
