SEB posts first net profit
Kolkata, Jul 12 (UNI) In a remarkable turnaround, West Bengal State Electricity Board (WBSEB) posted for the first time a net profit of Rs 80 crore in 2005-06.
Announcing this today, Power Minister Mrinal Banerjee said today that the State Board was only the second SEB in the country to have made a profit.
The Minister said effective measures against power theft, increased efficiency and improved technical know how contributed to the turnaround.
He said if this trend was sustained in future, SEB might lower the power tariff.
