SBI, Reliance on 'Fortune Global 500' list
New Delhi, July 13 (UNI) Six Indian companies, including its largest public sector bank, the State Bank of India, and the Reliance Industries are among the world's top 500 companies listed by the 'Fortune Magazine'.
SBI, which is a new entry, is ranked 498th on the 'Fortune Global 500' list.
The Indian entries are led by Indian Oil, which is placed 153.
Reliance Industries is the only Indian private company to enter the 'Global 500'.
The other Indian companies on the list are Bharat Petroleum (ranked 368th), Hindustan Petroleum (378th) and ONGC (402nd).
According to the 'Global 500', Indian Oil has a revenue of 36,537 million dollars and the SBI a revenue of 13,755.8 million dollars.
With a revenue of 18,773.3 million dollars, Reliance Industries has moved up 75 positions to 342 this year from 417 last year.
Reliance Industries is the only Indian company to appear on the list of 'Top 25 Climbers' or fast-growing companies.
The Bharat Petroleum has a revenue of 17,613.8 million dollars followed by Hindustan Petroleum (17,106.4 million) and ONGC (16,609.2 million).
American energy giant Exxon Mobil tops the list with a revenue of 339,938 million dollars followed by Wal-Mart Stores (315,654 million), Royal Dutch Shell (306,731 million), BP (267,600 million) and General Motors (192,604 million).
''The U.S. leads the pack when it comes to growing global giants-- 170 Global 500 companies are headquartered here. Meanwhile, India and China are gaining ground,'' says the magazine.
