RBI to issue new Rs 1,000 notes with inset letter 'L'

New Delhi, July 13 (UNI) The Reserve Bank of India today announced that it will soon issue Rs 1,000 denomination notes with inset letter 'L' in both numbering panels in Mahatama Gandhi series.

However, except for the change in the inset letter, the design of these notes will be similar in all respects to the banknotes issued earlier in the series with additional security features on October 21, 2005, a bank statement said.
