Posts for visually impaired in administration to be identified: HC

Mumbai, Jul 13 (UNI) The Bombay High Court today directed the Maharashtra government to file a reply by July 31 indicating that posts be reserved for the visually impaired in all the government departments.

A division bench comprising Justice R M Lodha and S J Vazifdar while directing the state, asked them to identify the posts not only departmentally but also categorically (Class I, II, III or IV) The state submitted today before the court that while 110 resolutions had been passed by the various departments of the administration, the same needed a confirmation by an expert committee appointed by the state and also had to be reviewed by the High Court.

The court held that all the administrative departments had to streamline and furnish all the details to the Social Justice department of the state by the end of this month.

The case came up for hearing today following the public interest litigation which had been filed by the National Association of the Blind seeking the vacancies reserved and eligibility criteria for the visually impaired be known to the applicants.
