Person arrested yesterday has no links with Mumbai blasts: DGP
Hyderabad, July 13 (UNI) Andhra Pradesh Director-General of Police Swaranjit Sen today said the person arrested by the police under suspicious circumstances from Nampally railway station yesterday, has no link with the Mumbai serial blasts.
Talking to the media here, Mr Sen said police picked up Abdul from the railway station and questioned him thorougly. But he has no link with the Mumbai serial blasts, he confirmed.
''It is unfortunate media always projects as if Hyderabad is linked to all terrorist violence in the country, he said.
Mr Sen reiterated that steps will be taken to strengthen counter-intelligence wing in the state to curb terrorist activities.
Referring to the lathicharge on student activists protesting against the hike in engineering fee yesterday, Mr Sen said the police had to do it when the situation went out of control.
An inquiry into the incident has been ordered, if the police are found guilty action would be taken against them, he added.
